What can employers expect when partnering with MTC Training?

Employers can expect comprehensive support throughout the apprenticeship process, access to state-of-the-art facilities, high-quality apprentices, flexible funding options, and a positive impact on their business.

Our Specialist Inclusive Co-ordinators offer advice and assistance to enable neurodiverse talent to thrive in the workplace.

Apprentices have access to MTC's state-of-the-art facilities, including the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC) in Coventry, Oxfordshire Advanced Skills (OAS), and MTC Liverpool at Liverpool Science Park.

Apprentices bring fresh perspectives, help address skills shortages, and contribute to increased employee satisfaction and loyalty. Supporting an apprentice also provides development opportunities for existing employees.

We have a team of qualified Mental Health First Aiders available to provide support to apprentices whenever needed. They can be contacted at MentalHealthFirstAid@the-mtc.org.

Our enrichment programme includes activities such as speed awareness, cyber security, finance management, PREVENT, and technical lectures. These activities help extend apprentices' interests and talents.

Eligibility requirements vary by programme but generally include specific GCSE grades or Functional Skills levels. Detailed requirements will be shared with you directly.

General Questions

What types of apprenticeships do you offer?

We offer a range of apprenticeships, including Level 2 Engineering Operative, Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician, and Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering (HTQ), among others. These are all detailed on our website.

We can arrange an initial meeting with our BD team to discuss whether your business is eligible.

The duration varies by programme. For example, Level 2 apprenticeships typically last 18-24 months, while Level 3 apprenticeships can last up to 36 months.

We provide comprehensive support for apprentices with special needs, including safeguarding, mental health support, and assistance from Specialist Inclusive Co-ordinators.

Training and Development

What kind of training will my apprentice receive?

Apprentices receive a combination of traditional skills training and exposure to emerging technologies. Training includes both theoretical and practical components, with access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Training is delivered through a mix of online and face-to-face methods, including block release and day release schedules. Apprentices also participate in enrichment activities to enhance their learning experience.

Our training programmes are rigorously designed and continuously updated to meet industry standards. We have received an overall Ofsted rating of "Good" with "Outstanding" grades for Personal Development and Behaviours and Attitudes.

Funding and Costs

What funding options are available for apprenticeship training?

We offer flexible funding options, including co-investment agreements and support through the Lloyds SME Support Scheme for non-levy paying employers.

Employers may need to cover costs for mandatory PPE and additional equipment required for apprentices. There is also the option for our apprenticeship + add on. 

Our MIS team will support you in managing your Apprenticeship Levy, ensuring you maximise its benefits for training and development.

What opportunities are there for collaboration and networking?

We host open evenings, forums, and events where employers can meet new talent, provide input on apprenticeship delivery, and collaborate with industry peers.

Compliance and Legal

What are the legal requirements for employing an apprentice?

Employers must comply with all relevant employment laws, including those related to working hours, wages, and workplace safety. 

Apprentices must meet specific eligibility criteria to start their programme. If there are any issues, our Recruitment Lead will work with you to find a suitable solution.
