Our apprenticeships

Hire a level 2 engineering apprentice

The MTC is at the forefront of technological advancements, and apprentices that train on our apprenticeship programme are exposed to these new and emerging technologies, adding value to your organisation.

Our Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship builds on a strong foundation of traditional skills, overlaid with themes of emerging technologies, equipping apprentices for a rapidly developing engineering sector. The programme enables both your new and existing employees to progress their careers by developing into multi-skilled operators through process ownership.

During their fifteen-month apprenticeship, learners will spend most of their time on-site with your business and will travel to MTC Liverpool for additional training on a day release model. During this time, they will have one-to-one support from an industry expert, gaining the confidence, skills, and knowledge to carry out their work safely while helping you optimise your business’s production.

Upon completion, learners will be able to progress to a Level 3 apprenticeship in a number of different pathways, gaining even more valuable knowledge to benefit your business.

What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are government-funded work-based training programmes designed to give your team the sustainable skills they need to succeed in your business.

Whatever the size of your organisation, skilled and motivated employees are the key to business success, and apprenticeships provide a cost-effective solution to upskilling your current employees. Provided that your chosen candidate meets the programme selection criteria, they could be enrolled within weeks and in time for our next intake starting in September.

MTC Training can support your business through the Apprenticeship Levy.

  • 0.5% of your pay bill will go towards the apprentice levy if your annual pay bill is £3 million+
  • Over the duration of the apprenticeship, our Lean Manufacturing Operative Standard is funded at £6,000 of levy funding
  • £1,000 government incentive is available for employing a 16 to 18-year-old

Ideally, candidates will already have achieved English and maths at GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 1. If not, Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths will be included in the apprenticeship programme.

Testimonial

"An apprenticeship gives you the practical hands-on skills as well as the knowledge base, so our young technicians get real work experience alongside the understanding of why we do what we do at Meggitt. This is really important to us. The skills they get at the MTC are the skills we need for the future, so as well as bringing a more diverse range of talent into our business, our apprentices help us to diversify our thinking too, and challenge the way that we do things."
