HNC

Why choose the HNC?

The HNC (HTQ) provides you with skills and knowledge across a range of core and specialist units, helping you develop within your workplace and stay up-to-date with the latest innovations. You’ll gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Flexible Delivery Options

The HNC is structured in units over two academic years and is available at our Coventry site (as block release starting each September) and at OAS in Oxfordshire (as day release starting each November). This flexibility allows you to complete your qualification alongside your day-to-day role.

In-centre training is supported by online learning, including weekly online check-ins when you are in the workplace. This ensures you can access tutor support while studying additional content when not in the centre. Learners must engage with approximately 6 hours of personal study time per week.

The cost of the course is £6,500 per learner. Fees are generally covered by your employer.

Progression

By successfully completing the HNC, you will have the skills to progress to higher-level technical roles within your organisation, potentially leading to leadership positions. Roles associated with these skills include Engineering Manufacturing Technician, Process Leader, and Production Manager. You will also be able to register for a university degree or degree-level apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will need a relevant Level 3 qualification in advanced engineering (completed on its own or as part of a Level 3 apprenticeship) or A Levels (including maths and a science). Applications with equivalent qualifications or relevant experience will be considered. All enrolments will be subject to suitability assessment and interviews.
