Apprentices Privacy Policy
In this privacy notice, references to “MTC”, “we”, “us” or “our” are to The Manufacturing Technology Centre Limited and each of its subsidiaries, including MTC Operations Limited and MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre) Training Limited.
The Manufacturing Technology Centre Limited is ultimately responsible for how we use and look after your personal data and is responsible for this website and this policy.
Our Privacy Policy provides an overview of how we manage and protect your data and what your rights are. The purpose of this privacy notice is to provide more information on what data we collect about you as an Apprentice, how we will use it and how long we retain it for.
Our use of your data
We use your data to meet our obligations to you as your Training Provider, exercise your rights as your Training Provider and operate our business.
As described in our Privacy Policy, we must have a legal basis for processing your data. The bases on which we use your data are typically our legitimate interests in operating our business, the performance of our contract with you and your employer and our legal obligations as your Training Provider.
Under data protection legislation, some of your data is considered sensitive and requires additional protection. The categories of data that are considered sensitive are:
- Racial or ethnic origin.

Data concerning health.

Data concerning sex life or sexual orientation.

Data relating to criminal convictions and offences may also receive special protection under the laws of your jurisdiction.
We will only use such data where necessary for your apprenticeship with MTC.
The table in the appendix provides an overview of the data we use in relation to you (including any sensitive data), how we obtain them, the purpose for which we use them and the legal basis we rely on for using them.
You will not be subject to decisions based on automated processing without your consent.
Data Sharing
Access to your data will be restricted within MTC to individuals who require access to it for the relevant purpose, including your trainers and well-being and pastoral managers.
We may also give access to your data to third parties in order that they can provide services to us, including in relation to data storage, screening, accreditation and securing funding.
Data Retention
For candidates who apply for an apprenticeship but are not successful, we retain keep your data for 6 months from the date of the decision, in case either of us needs access to deal with any concern or question that arises. We may keep your data on file for a longer period, so that we can notify you of future opportunities you might be interested in, but we will seek your consent to do this.
For candidates who are successful in their application and commence an Apprenticeship with MTC, we will retain your data for two years after your apprenticeship ends, unless:
- we are required to retain the data to comply with ESFA funding requirements, in which case we will retain the data for six years from the end of the funding year in which your apprenticeship ends; and/or
- there is a legal obligation to retain your data for a longer period, in which case, we will retain your data in accordance with law.
At the end of the relevant retention period, your data will be securely destroyed.
Your rights
Your rights in relation to our use of your data are outlined in our Privacy Policy which also tells you what you can do if you are unhappy with how we have used your data.
